The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) connects your jawbone to your skull. TMJ issues can cause pain in the jaw, face or around the ear. Some people may also notice a clicking or grating sound when chewing.

What causes a TMJ?

It’s not always clear what causes a TMJ injury. TMJ disorders may be caused by teeth grinding, arthritis or jaw injury. As with the spine, the jaw has a shock-absorbing disc which can be improperly aligned or damaged over time causing pain.

Chiropractic treatment for TMJ

Chiropractic adjustments can help relieve pain from TMJ. Chiropractic is a safe, non-invasive, way to treat and manage TMJ pain. Dr. Hunter will develop a customized treatment plan that identifies the underlying cause of your TMJ pain and also takes into account your age, medical history and lifestyle.
